Week of Workouts: May 2021

Hey, hey! Wednesday is here and we’re halfway through the week. I hope it’s been a good one for you so far. Today’s blog post is the May 2021 edition of my week of workouts series. I began this series on the blog a few years ago to give you guys a peek into what one week of workouts looks like for me each month.

I am continuing with my driveway workouts and managed to sneak in four this week. As usual the emphasis was on strength training since I feel like I get a lot of other movement in my day-to-day life thanks to motherhood and chasing after three boys.

Week of Workouts: May 2021

Monday: Burn Boot Camp Leg Workout

(Our Flippy iPad pillow stand gets a lot of use these days thanks to my driveway workouts!)

On Monday morning, during Rhett’s nap time, I streamed a Burn Boot Camp leg workout to complete in our driveway. Ryder was my workout buddy of the day and spent his time jumping off my workout bench, riding his bike and scooter in circles around me and racing his toy cars down the driveway.

There’s no moment to get bored during my workouts with him involved, that’s for sure! As for the leg workout, it was a good one! It incorporated three rounds of 45 seconds of three different supersets. I did some modifications and swapped out a few of the exercises so here are the supersets I completed: 1/2 to Full Squats + Stability Ball Hamstring Curls / Bulgarian Split Squats + Dumbbell Hip Thrusts / Deadlifts + Step-Ups. My glutes and hamstrings were definitely sore the next day after that one!

Tuesday: Biceps + Triceps Workout

Tuesday I had the driveway to myself during Rhett’s morning nap since the big kids were at preschool and I took myself through a biceps + triceps workout that left my arms burning. I really enjoyed the giant set format of this exercise since it broke all of the exercises up a lot and kept my interest the whole time.

Wednesday: Rest

No workout for me on Wednesday!

Thursday: Push/Pull Workout (Chest + Back + Shoulders)

On Thursday morning, I completed a push/pull workout that incorporated several sets of chest, back and shoulder exercises. It was actually the same Burn Boot Camp push/pull workout I initially shared last month. Clearly I liked it enough to repeat it!

Friday: Rest

Another rest day happened over here on Friday!

Saturday: Total Body Blast Workout

Saturday’s workout was a throwback PBF total body blast! I jammed out to Pandora’s Pop and Hip Hop Power Workout station and honestly had fun flying through this 30-minute sweat fest! I cycled through two rounds of each circuit before moving onto the next and loved this one so much.

Sunday: Family Hike

I didn’t do a structured workout on Sunday but we took the boys on a fun family hike and I feel like that counts as exercise even if our pace wasn’t too fast thanks to the kiddos. Hiking with our boys isn’t exactly a fast-paced adventure but it’s so fun to watch them run around and explore. Trails are a happy place for our family for sure!

Questions of the Day

What are your workouts looking like these days? Are you working out at home? In a gym? Following a program of some sort?

What is your favorite way to move your body lately?
