Whenever a new season hits, do you find yourself staring at the clothes in your closet, wondering what in the heck you have to wear that will actually look decent as the weather changes? I can’t just be me! Inevitably at the start of every season, I take inventory of the clothes in my closet. I usually end up with a small pile of clothes to donate or sell and a pile of clothes that I think still look cute from previous years. But then this fall, like nearly every fall, I found myself noticing new autumn trends and eyeing cozy sweaters, breezy long-sleeve dresses, off-the-shoulder tops, booties and scarves. This is where thredUP comes in handy!
You guys know by now that I’ve been shopping for clothes from thredUP for years. It’s truly one of my go-to websites for clothing and you can’t beat the prices on like-new brand name clothing. They carry all of my favorite brands – Free People, Gap, lululemon, Athleta, Zara, Madewell and more – and I’ve found everything from cocktail dresses and oversize sweaters to summer sandals and designer crossbody bags on the site. After using the site for years, I can vouch for the quality of the clothing they accept and I have never received anything that didn’t seem like-new or only very slightly used. (Many of their items actually still have tags on them!)
As the seasons transitioned from summer into fall, I found a few beautiful new items on thredUP that have quickly become wardrobe staples for me. From breezy shirtdresses and long denim skirts to comfy tees, I’m detailing five of my latest favorite steals below!
Also, I hope you don’t mind the iPhone fashion photos in this post! I know a bunch of the fashion bloggers out there have professional photographers snap their pics these days but I think sometimes it’s nice to see more “real life” style fashion photos. Please tell me some of you are with me on this one!? Let’s think of these fashion pics as “Julie in the Wild” since Ryan took all of them for me when we were out and about over the course of the past few weeks!
From Summer to Fall Fashion with thredUP
- Sleeveless Shirt Dress
Sonoma Dress (Retail: $48.00 / thredUP Price: $10.99)
Army green is one of my favorite colors that feels warm and cozy so I couldn’t resist this sleeveless shirt dress when I saw it on thredUP! It was incredibly affordable and I knew I could wear it in a number of different ways as the weather cools down more and more. I paired it with a long, lightweight cardigan, floppy hat and booties for a dinner out with two girlfriends a couple weeks ago and loved it. The dress was flowly and comfortable and perfect for a casual dinner coupled with some post-dinner shopping!
- Long Denim Skirt
Zara Denim Skirt (Retail: $36.00 / thredUP Price: $9.99 ) // Old Navy Sandals (Retail: $25.00 / thredUP Price: $5.99)
One of my favorite ways to shop on thredUP is to search for my favorite brands. Since the site is continually updated with 15,000 new items every day, this makes it easy to target brands I know I love that typically flatter my body type. I found this long denim skirt when I searched for Zara clothing on the site and immediately added it to my cart. The longer length is perfect for transitioning away from summer and into fall since it provides a little more coverage. I wore it to the pumpkin patch with Ryan and Chase two weekends ago and thought it had a very autumn look about it!
- Plaid Shirt Dress
Theory Dress (Retail: $335.00 / thredUP Price: $64.99 )
This dress was a must-have the instant I saw it pop up on thredUP. I LOVE shirtdresses in the fall because they’re perfectly breezy but the long sleeves provide a little warmth as the weather begins to cool down. They’re also easy to style in a myriad of different ways. While I wore this one with a simple chambray shirt tied around the waist and a comfy pair of ankle booties for a hayride with my family, I think shirt dresses also look great with denim jackets or vests, over-the-knee boots and even Chuck Taylors for a more casual, athletic look.
- Denim Wrap Dress
Life in Progress Dress (Retail: $27.00 / thredUP Price: $7.99 )
Clearly I’m all about denim right now, huh!? This denim dress is one I actually bought from thredUP back in the spring. I wore it to the zoo on Mother’s Day this year and ended up wearing it again to a chili cook off earlier this month. In the summer months, I love wearing this dress on its own since it’s sleeveless and breezy, but as the weather cools down, I’ve been pairing it with a flannel top or a long to-the-knee cardigan with flats or booties.
- Madewell Tee
Madewell Tee (Retail: $24.99 / thredUP Price: $14.99)
I am SO late on the Madewell train, but WOW do they make some nice clothes! Madewell totally nails the classics and now that my eyes have opened to their flattering cuts and comfortable fits, I find myself searching for this brand on thredUP regularly. I ordered a like-new gray Madewell zip-up sweatshirt and this comfy sky blue Madewell tee from thredUP which will be the perfect layering item under cardigans and chunky sweaters throughout the fall and winter. Comfy clothes for the win! I’ve already worn the t-shirt all over the place – on walks with Chase and Sadie, to play dates and even on the plane to Michigan late last week.
